I am Michael Smith, a Ruby on Rails developer and general IT geek with probably the most common name in the English speaking world.
I am a Ruby on Rails developer living in Jakarta, Indonesia.
On this site I put my projects, thoughts, rants. I also use it to try out new tech stuff. I wrote this blog from scratch in Ruby on Rails. I don't really like Wordpress, though I use it for klasifikasia's blog.
IT has always been more of a hobby for me but I am happy I learned that you can make a living with what you do best and love doing.
I don't have a resume, so if you want to find out more about my professional skills, have a look at the projects I work on in the porfolio page. The most interesting and skilled people I know in IT neither have a degree, nor a resume.
I was born in Antwerp, Belgium. I lived and worked in Dubai for nearly four years. In September 2008 I moved to Jakarta, Indonesia. My mother tongue is Dutch, but I am fluent in English and I still recall a little bit of French and Russian. Currently I am learning Bahasa Indonesia.
